An energy company, K Energy, required a solution that provides a secure work environment to their employees who are working remotely in developing countries. To discover new energy sources, employees often go to remote locations where network connection is rather scarce. However, current data security solution does not allow for offline use of PCs.
Initially, they have implemented a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution; however, it does not function without an internet connection. Therefore, the employees are left with work environment that is either unprotected or dysfunctional.
K Energy requires a solution that can monitor and track employees’ work activities even when offline, while protecting the their VDI solution from data leaks.
UMS 3.0 and USB Office+ help K Energy to allow employees to work in office locations where network connection is scarce, without sacrificing security. They can store confidential files on Secudrive USB Office+ and work offline, since the USB drives prevent data leaks and record activity logs even when offline.
The USB drive security policy is configured to allow the users to use the USB drives even in the absence of network connection. All activity logs are still recorded in offline and will be synced back to the management console once the network connection is restored.
The administrator can also limit the number of offline logins or set an expiration date for the USB drives to prevent excessive usage in offline.
Secudrive USB Office+ restricts copying, printing, screen capturing, and network transfer of stored data. K Energy’s development contracts and plans are in safe hands, as they cannot be either accidentally or purposely taken from the USB drives.
USB Office+ collects user and file activities even when offline. All activities are recorded in logs and will be synced back to one central management console that is UMS 3.0.
